Job Title: Domestic Assistant

Location: North Devon District Hospital

Hours: 27.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern:
  • Varied Days
  • 9.00 am – 3.00 pm
About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Domestic Assistant to join our team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role is essential in supporting infection prevention and ensuring high standards of hygiene across our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine and ad-hoc cleaning tasks in line with schedules and policies.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in patient and public areas.
  • Safely handle and dispose of domestic and clinical waste.
  • Replenish consumables such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls.
  • Use cleaning equipment and materials safely and in compliance with COSHH regulations.
  • Communicate courteously with patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring excellent customer care.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines, including the use of PPE.
About You
  • Previous experience in a cleaning role (healthcare experience desirable).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically able to carry out cleaning tasks, including moving light furniture.
  • High standard of personal hygiene.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and strong customer service skills.
Requirements
  • Basic literacy skills.
  • Willingness to undertake training.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check.
