A prestigious independent school in London is seeking a Director of Estates and Facilities to lead the transformation of its multi-site estate. The successful candidate will have a strong background in estates management, overseeing key operational areas and compliance frameworks. This role involves guiding the ambitious Estates Masterplan and leading a dedicated team to ensure safety and efficiency across all sites. Competitive salary and extensive benefits included.
Shape the future of one of the UK’s most respected Independent Schools.
Latymer Upper School is known for academic excellence, social inclusion (funding available for bursaries for 1 in 4 pupils), and now, a bold estates vision. As Director of Estates and Facilities, you'll lead the transformation.
You’ll have full ownership of Latymer’s multi-site estate (Upper, Prep, and the Latymer Sports Ground in Chiswick), balancing strategic development with day-to-day operational excellence. A new Masterplan is underway, and you’ll play a key role in shaping it.
You’ll also lead and develop a dedicated Estates team, helping them reach their full potential. All that’s missing is you.
No legacy red tape. No endless sign-off loops. Just the chance to build, shape and lead an Estates function that reflects the ambition of a top UK school.
You’ll take strategic ownership of Latymer’s ambitious Estates Masterplan, guiding its successful delivery across all sites. Day to day, you’ll lead the Estates and FM team, with three direct reports, covering everything from hard and soft services to long-term sustainability. You’ll oversee key supplier relationships and manage a wide range of external contracts to ensure value and performance.
You’ll drive space planning, oversee capital projects, and ensure every part of the estate functions with safety, efficiency and foresight. Your expertise will strengthen compliance and resilience across systems, and you’ll be the key estates voice in strategic discussions with Governors and Senior Leaders.
You’ll bring a strong background in estates or facilities management within complex, multi-site environments, ideally in education. You’ll be qualified (NEBOSH or IOSUnary) and confident managing compliance frameworks, with particular expertise in fire safety and risk management. But just as importantly, you’ll be a unifying presence: someone who builds trust, brings calm to complexity, and keeps strategy in focus while delivering real-world results.
Latymer Upper School is London’s leading fully co‑educational independent school, combining academic excellence with a strong sense of social responsibility. Founded in 1624 and on the current site from 1895, it now educates around 1,269 pupils at the Upper School and a further 174 at Latymer Prep, drawing students from across West London and beyond.
The school is deeply committed to equity, diversity and inclusion, and actively works to reduce the gender pay gap. It encourages applications from underrepresented groups and fosters a welcoming, supportive culture where all staff and students can thrive.
