Overview

Are you interested in developing your skills as a Dietetic Assistant? Whether you are starting out in your career, returning to the workforce or looking for a change in direction; if you have an interest in nutrition and a passion for helping people, this is the job for you!

What we need

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual who is interested in working in the hospital environment to ensure that our patients receive the best possible nutritional care. You will be welcomed into our friendly dietetic department and well supported by a dedicated clinical supervisor. You will have additional peer support from dietetic assistants working in our acute and rehab dietetic team at Manchester Royal Infirmary and at different hospital sites across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for reviewing nutritional care plans for adult renal patients at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The role will involve communicating with members of the wider multidisciplinary team including doctors, nurses, allied health professionals (physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists), pharmacists and the catering department.

There will be opportunities to contribute to patient education and staff training sessions. You will have a key role in delivering health promotion campaigns such as Dietitians Week, AHP (allied health professional) week, and Nutrition and Hydration week. You will support the dietitians and have responsibility for some administrative tasks to ensure the smooth and effective running of the department.

Although previous experience in health and care is not required it is favourable. We welcome people who are well organised, flexible, who have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and work well as part of a team.
