Job description
Development Test Engineer – Severn Beach, Bristol

We are excited to announce a new fixed‑term opportunity for a Development Test Engineer located in Severn Beach, Bristol. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting the Product Development team by investigating intricate product challenges, validating innovative design solutions, and enhancing our products and processes through thorough testing and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate selective engineering problems on released platforms, identify root causes using PT problem‑solving methodology or 8D RCA tools, collate evidence, and provide concise, traceable reporting.
  • Support assembly and test plans by initiating new build documentation and interrogating BOMs, ECOs and DP’s effectively.
Product Improvements and Product Correction Validation
  • Implement improvements to current released products, including control systems, plumbing, pneumatics and mechanical elements, and develop test documentation to ensure performance meets customer expectations.
  • Provide expert advice to production engineering and test departments on product improvement validation activities and outcomes from the product development team.
  • Support corrective action requests, typically FRN (fault reports) and DP’s Deviation permits, and provide design feedback to ensure robustness of solutions (DFM, DFA and DFS).
  • Maintain documentation (SOP, Instructions) up to date for manufacturing engineering support.
Quality
  • Monitor, report and optimise product quality.
  • React in a timely and efficient manner to customer feedback/faults on commissioning relating to product improvements.
Education / Qualifications
  • HND or higher in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic disciplines.
Professional Skills / Abilities
  • Substantial experience in electro‑mechanical systems production engineering, preferably small batch, high technology system integration with machining/fabs.
  • Experience in fast‑paced operations environments.
  • Knowledge of Design validation methodologiesDFM, DAA, DFA).
  • Problem‑solving skills.
  • Practical experience of mechanical and electrical assembly.
