Overview

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity working in the field of Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) including ADHD? The Neurodevelopmental Service (NDS) is looking for two full-time Consultant Psychiatrists for an initial fixed-term 1‑year contract. The NDS is a specialist diagnostic and consultation service based in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex, serving adults with suspected ASC, ADHD, Tourettes syndrome, and Tic disorder. The service is delivered by senior nurse practitioners and a weekly multidisciplinary clinic comprising a neuropsychiatrist, a consultant psychologist, and a speech and language therapist. The post involves developing a system-wide ND pathway and delivering a primary care ADHD assessment service, including training, consultation, and supervision of local GPs and primary care professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a system-wide neurodevelopment (ND) pathway, beginning with an initial pilot for a primary care provider collaboration.
  • Deliver a primary care ADHD assessment service, providing training, consultation and supervision to local GPs and primary care health professionals to ensure diagnostic and treatment work.
  • Assess and treat patients with ADHD, Autism, Tics and Tourette's, and supervise Nurse Prescribers in initiating, titrating, and evaluating ADHD medication.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including service users, third sector providers, and internal/external partners.
Qualifications
  • Consultant Psychiatrist with an interest or experience in ASC, ADHD, Tourettes syndrome, and Tic disorder.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Willingness to receive training and support from national expert neuropsychiatrists.
