Summary

There is a Composites Fitter position available within our Production team for a multi-skilled, adaptable worker who can work with maximum effectiveness and efficiency. They also must have knowledge of processes and tools used with composites and metallics in the aircraft industry including but not limited to:

  • Setting structures in trim and assembly jigs
  • Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels with Vanmar tools
  • Fettling using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Mixing and use of adhesives and sealants
  • Percussion riveting
  • Treatment touch-up in localised areas on aluminium
Responsibilities
  • Ensure parts are produced on a ‘right first time’ basis.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of work tasks in line with Methods of Manufacture, Job Card and the logging of job progress in Single Point (Time Keeping System).
  • Make sure that any calibrated equipment used is within date.
  • Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the Meggitt Methods of Manufacture and Quality Procedures.
  • Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety procedures relevant to all work activities.
  • Report all incidents, accidents and near misses as per the company’s procedure and implementation of identified corrective actions.
  • Maintain good standards of housekeeping in designated work area(s).
Qualifications
  • Must have a recognised and relevant apprenticeship and have significant previous composites manufacturing experience in an aircraft production environment.
  • Able to work to Methods of Manufacture.
  • Must be capable of lone working and in small teams.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques with a willingness to support and contribute to the Meggitt continuous improvement initiative.
  • Self-motivated team player with good communication skills.
