Communications & Marketing Officer - Lynton & Lynmouth

Lynton & Lynmouth Town Council is seeking an enthusiastic, driven, and charismatic individual to join our team as a Communications & Marketing Officer.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to play a key role in shaping how the Council communicates with residents, visitors, and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the following key outcomes:

  • Publication of the ‘Lyn Valley News’
    The initial production of a quarterly printed newsletter, sharing Council and community information with the local electorate.
  • Digital & Social Media Communications
    Driving community engagement through social media platforms and the Town Council
    website, promoting Council business and the high-quality services delivered to the
    community.
  • Marketing Lynton Town Hall
    Promoting Lynton Town Hall as a valuable, revenue-generating community asset,
    supporting its use as a venue for community, cultural, and entertainment events. The aim
    is to offset running costs through positive income generation.
Hours

18.5 hours per week

Salary

SCP5, £12,791.50 per annum (Full-Time Equivalent: £25,583). Salary is based on the 2025/2026 National Pay Agreement, effective from 1 April 2025.

This position is offered on a fixed-term contract of 12 months, fully funded within the 2026/2027 Council Budget.

Subject to successful outcomes and a positive financial review during the 2027/28 budget setting process, the role may continue thereafter, with a long-term goal of becoming self-funding.
