Job summary

A well-established manufacturing company in Ashford is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for a hands-on role. The successful candidate will set up and operate CNC milling machines, produce components to print, and modify CNC programs for efficiency. Strong manufacturing experience is essential along with good attention to detail and problem-solving skills. This full-time position offers regular hours from Monday to Friday, and salary is dependent on experience.

Qualifications

We are recruiting an experienced CNC Machinist to join a well-established manufacturing company in Ashford, Kent. This is a hands‑on role for a skilled setter in milling/programmer working within a production environment.

Key responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines, performing accurate tool and work piece set‑up
  • Produce components to print using milling machines and CNC programming knowledge
  • Create and modify CNC programs (CAM/CNC) and optimise cycles for efficiency and accuracy
  • Conduct first‑off inspections and ongoing quality checks using precision measuring equipment
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, perform routine maintenance and uphold machine housekeeping
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to meet delivery schedules and quality standards
Essential skills and experience:
  • Proven experience as a setter in milling / CNC programmer
  • Strong manufacturing background with practical experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Skilled in tool selection, offsets, feeds and speeds and machine set‑up
  • Good attention to detail, problem‑solving skills and a commitment to quality
  • Reliable, punctual and driven
Desirable:
  • Relevant vocational qualifications or apprenticeship in machining or manufacturing
  • Familiarity with common CNC controls and CAM software
