Job summary

A leading provider of student accommodation in Leeds is looking for a Caretaker to handle property maintenance tasks such as painting, unblocking drains, and maintaining the general condition of the property. The role includes a generous holiday package, retail discounts, and more. Applicants should have experience in property maintenance and strong customer care skills. This position offers 16 hours per week, working Monday and Friday.

Job description

Homes for Students is one of the UK’s leading providers of student accommodation. We currently have a vacancy for a Caretaker at our The Store Houseproperty in Leeds working 16 hours per week, 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday and Friday.

General duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Painting
  • Unblocking drains
  • Fixing taps
  • Changing lightbulbs
  • Litter picking the perimeter

The postholder will be responsible for driving a high-quality customer experience in relation to the speed and quality of the service provided to reported faults and the general condition, state and repair of the property.

Person Specification
  • Previous experience of Property maintenance within a similar environment, or experienced and qualified in a trade with the ability to work across a number of trade disciplines to a reasonable standard.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues and legal requirements.
  • Excellent customer care skills with the ability to report outstanding actions and to keep individuals informed of progress.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of prioritising workload to meet competing deadlines without close supervision.
  • To be proactive in approach, with the ability to use initiative and resolve issues or problems quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to work in a team and have a flexible approach to work.
