Overview

Cable Construction Managers UK Wide - Expression of Interest. Join to apply for the Cable Construction Managers UK Wide - Expression of Interest role at Wood. This is a site-based position with works issued under various frameworks supporting multiple clients, UK wide. You will be flexible in location, away from home for periods, and travel across the UK. The role supports the project manager by supervising and delivering key packages of cabling construction projects, assisting in construction plans, coordinating the engineering support team, and procuring materials and subcontracts for successful project delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and deliver key packages of construction projects
  • Assist in the production of construction plans, coordinate the Engineering support team, and procure construction materials and specialist subcontracts for successful delivery
  • Support the Site Manager and Project Manager and lead core delivery teams
  • Ensure technical solutions on site align with Engineering requirements and management systems
  • Manage and coordinate all street works permits in line with required dates
  • Manage customer relationships during tender and delivery, including change management and expectations
  • Lead Safety Shield Initiatives and drive continuous improvement across SHESQ within projects
  • Collaborate on health and safety to enable Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd to meet legal duties

Required qualifications and experience
  • Minimum ISCED level 5 (technical diploma/apprenticeship) or equivalent
  • Experience managing sites and field-based staff on Cable or substation projects and underground cabling works
  • Technical expertise in civil, cable and/or electrical aspects of cabling projects
  • Experience in cable installation, including jointing and testing
  • Experience working with distribution network operators
  • Ability to understand and deliver works to project schedules, forecast resources/materials, and provide programme updates
  • Experience managing sub-contractors and recording measurements for financial settlement
  • Experience supervising Engineering Support teams across design, construction, commissioning and close out
  • Ability to coordinate delivery to cost and schedule without compromising SHEQ standards
  • Experience managing excavation works in public highways and remote locations
  • Good knowledge of street works and Local Authorities permit requirements
  • SSSTS (or higher) as a minimum; CSCS; IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications
  • Full UK Driving Licence
