A local government entity in Galashiels is seeking a Business Support Assistant to provide essential administrative support to Team Leaders and Social Work professionals. The role involves taking minutes, answering calls, and using various applications to facilitate communications. Candidates must have at least 3 Standard Grades including English. This temporary position offers an hourly rate of £13.26 to £13.96, with a contract until June 2026.

Role Purpose

We are excited to offer an opening for a Business Support Assistant - This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for a challenge working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. As a Business Support Assistant, you'll provide administration support to the Team Leaders, and other Social Work professionals, along with partner agencies such as Education, Police and Health. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

Responsibilities
  • Telephone Answering
  • Letter typing and distribution
  • Minute taking and distribution
  • Use of SBC applications such as Mosaic, Business World, Intranet, One Drive and Microsoft packages
  • Processing Police Concern Forms & Inter-Agency Referral
  • Being first point of telephone/email contact to the public and Professionals
  • Monitoring of Team mailboxes
  • Completing Mosaic tasks
  • Processing of invoices
  • Working closely with the Social Work staff
Essential
  • Minimum of 3 Standard Grades at level 1, 2, 3 (or equivalent), including English
