Job Description

It's an exciting time to be joining the Board of Bradford Arts Centre. In October, the company completed a major redevelopment of the organisation's building, reopening as Bradford Arts Centre during Bradford's milestone year as UK City of Culture.

As we look towards the future, we are looking to further strengthen our Board with the appointment of a Qualified Accountant to act as the Board's Treasurer.

Job Requirements

The Treasurer applicant must be a Qualified Accountant.

Role Requirements
  • Attend a minimum of four in-person Board meetings annually, plus required additional meetings and discussions.
  • Represent Bradford Arts Centre at external events.
  • Attend at least one performance at the venue each season.
  • All Trustees must demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, Bradford Arts Centre's artistic strategy, values, diversity, and equality.
Experience & Support
  • Prior Board experience is not required.
  • New Trustees receive a full induction, training, and ongoing support.
  • We particularly encourage applications from individuals with lived experience currently under-represented in the arts sector and on our Board.
Compensation

This role is not paid, but we cover all reasonable expenses incurred while delivering duties, including lost income for attending meetings.

Job Responsibilities

The Treasurer plays a critical role on our Board of Trustees. Working with the company's Head of Finance, the Treasurer leads the Board in overseeing the organisation's financial performance and accounts.

As a Trustee, the postholder will work with the other Trustees and the organisation's staff to ensure the company delivers against its Charitable Objects.

A full set of specific responsibilities can be found in the Recruitment Pack.
