The Role

As Air Conditioning Technical Manager, you will act as the company’s technical authority for all air conditioning works — ensuring compliance, high standards, and continuous improvement across both service and project operations. You will manage a team of engineers, provide hands‑on technical support, and drive operational excellence throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Operational Management

Lead, manage, and support a team of service and installation engineers.

Conduct technical briefings, on‑site audits, and performance reviews to uphold standards.

Ensure best‑value procurement of materials, plant, and equipment.

Support engineer training and professional development.

Technical Support & Problem Solving

Provide advanced technical assistance on complex faults, diagnostics, and commissioning.

Serve as the company’s lead technical advisor on VRF/VRV systems, chillers, AHUs, and splits.

Support estimating and operations teams with technical input on tenders and quotations.

Stay up to date with industry standards, manufacturer updates, and new technologies.

Contribute to strategic planning around technical standards and service delivery models.

Provide technical input and oversight into larger air conditioning projects.

Health & Safety Compliance

Develop and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

Ensure engineers work safely and in line with statutory and company procedures.

Collaborate with the Health & Safety team to promote a proactive safety culture.

Champion safe working practices and ongoing compliance training.

Project Coordination & Delivery

Oversee technical delivery of installation and maintenance works.

Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

Assist with commissioning, testing, and quality documentation.

Manage small installation projects from setup to client handover.

Build strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners.

Provide technical reports or presentations where required.

Respond promptly to client queries and technical challenges.

You’ll be a technically strong leader who enjoys guiding teams, solving problems, and improving standards across a busy HVAC operation.

You’ll bring
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the commercial air conditioning industry (service or project management).
  • F‑Gas Category 1 qualification (City & Guilds 2079 or equivalent).
  • Deep understanding of VRF/VRV systems (Daikin, Mitsubishi, Toshiba) plus experience with chillers, AHUs, and split systems.
  • Proven experience leading or supervising field engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC design, commissioning, and fault diagnostics.
  • Experience producing and reviewing RAMS.
  • Full UK driving licence.
You’ll also demonstrate
  • A growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A disciplined approach to quality, safety, and compliance (ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001).
  • A genuine belief in sustainability, ethical practices, and ESG values — where people and the planet matter alongside profit.
What’s in it for you?
  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience) up to £57,500
  • 32 days holiday (including bank holidays and your birthday off)
  • Royal London pension (salary sacrifice)
