Job description

The SSA is looking to appoint a skilled and motivated Administrator to support the day-to-day operations of the Society. The role involves managing and promoting our growing membership, as well as coordinating the Society’s programme of exhibitions and events, including the Annual Exhibition.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the SSA at a pivotal moment, as we undertake an ambitious programme of exhibitions and transition to SCIO status in 2026. The Administrator will play a central role in shaping the Society’s future and contributing to its ongoing success.

  • Post: Administrator – Freelance contract
  • Hours: 3 days per week (21 hours)
  • Rate: £18 per hour
  • Location: On-site in Edinburgh during the Annual Exhibition. (2026 Annual requirements are from 4th January – 8th February 2026.) Home based otherwise, with regular attendance in Edinburgh and occasional travel throughout Scotland.
  • Contract: Fixed-Term for 12 months with opportunity to renew contract after 3 month probationary period.

The Administrator is responsible for general management of the day-to-day running of the organisation and management of an on-going programme of activities including the Society’s Annual Exhibition. This position is a shared role and you will be working alongside another member of staff.
