The role and responsibilities

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for pensions, an appetite for nontraditional actuarial work and a flair for lateral problem-solving? Do you thrive in complex environments where your actuarial expertise can be used to provide insights, shape policy and influence regulatory outcomes?

  • Collaborate across TPR, using your consulting skills to provide thought leadership, training, and cross-discipline support across actuarial and pensions topics.
  • Shape strategy and strengthen the evidence base that informs policy and frontline decisions.
  • Lead actuarial input into Pensions Bill measures, including areas such as CDC policy expansion and innovation, new DC value for money requirements, guided retirement solutions (decumulation), scheme consolidation reforms, and other legislative reforms shaping the future pensions landscape.
  • Act as a subject matter expert across a wide range of pensions topics, applying skills honed in traditional areas to broader pensions analysis and insight.
  • Lead modelling initiatives that support regulatory interventions, policy development, and external publications.
  • Represent the organisation externally, building relationships with advisers, government departments and industry bodies.
The role criteria
  • Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries – ideally with at least 3 years’ post qualification experience.
  • Actuarial & pensions expertise – Has a strong consulting background, with experience advising trustees and/or employers on UK occupational pensions. With a deep knowledge of occupational DB and DC scheme arrangements, UK pensions legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Communication & collaboration – Communicates complex technical issues clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, and has a collaborative approach to working with other disciplines.
  • Strategic problem solver – Demonstrates strategic insight and professional judgement in novel and high‑pressure situations.
  • Project & stakeholder management – Delivers high quality outputs for teams across the organisation to agreed timescales, managing competing priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in MS Office – Expert user of Excel and proficient in other standard office tools.
