Job Title: Activities Coordinator

Location: Oakhill Secure Training Centre, Milton Keynes, MK5 6AJ

Salary: £38,480.00 per annum

Type: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours per week)

Oakhill Secure Training Centre we look after young people aged 12 to 18 who have been remanded or sentenced. The vulnerable young people in our care can be challenging with a wide range of social and emotional complex needs. This environment requires high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for young people to develop life skills and address behaviours that have led them into custody.

Oakhill works closely with the Youth Custody Services to ensure that its regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent offending.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the promotion of a positive Health & Safety culture across the site, leading by example, including reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner and following the applicable safe systems of work for the role.
  • Develop, coordinate and supervise a programme of enrichment/activities at the centre.
  • Complete, manage and distribute timetables and rotas to ensure that all young people have the opportunity to take part in enrichment activities and that the department is contractually compliant.
  • Engage young people in activities that fulfil inclusion, diversity and equality education and information sharing.
  • Expand external opportunities for the young people at the centre with local providers through positive links with the local community and external partners.
  • Map and compile information for all young people on the range of enrichment activities available.
  • Interact positively with young people in a secure setting.
  • Work unsupervised and manage own time effectively while being well organised and self‑motivated.
  • Think creatively and be innovative in introducing new activities, themes and concepts.
  • Understand that the operational need of the centre will always be a priority, and therefore there will be times when you may be asked to work in other departments or units.
