Acoustic Logging Technician - South East Water

RPS is seeking Acoustic Logging Technicians for our South East Water contract to take noise samples on the water network. Opportunities available in Basingstoke, Kent and Sussex. This is a great opportunity for someone to develop skills and experience with one of the UK’s leading Environmental Consultancies.

About The Team

The RPS Asset, Surveying, and Inspection (AS&I) team provides industry leading services to the UK Water Industry. The team analyse complex data and provide pragmatic solutions, reducing water leakage and preventing flooding and pollution in local communities. The team assess, diagnose, and determine the most appropriate solution to reduce leakage and support regulatory targets, delivering a great service for clients.

About You

As a key member of the AS&I business, your role as Acoustic Logging Technician is critical to our priorities — to deliver great work for our clients by providing excellent customer service and executing complex operational tasks. This position provides an opportunity to progress with RPS.

You will need to work flexibly, including weekends, evenings and overtime if required. Be willing to travel to different locations. It is essential that you enjoy working outdoors, as you will mostly be outside in all weather.

Your Responsibilities
  • Locating water main fittings
  • Taking noise samples using electronic leak detection equipment
  • Full training will be provided
Skills, Knowledge, And Experience
  • Prior experience would be beneficial but not essential
  • You will enjoy working outdoors, as most of your work is conducted outside (rain or shine)
  • A good standard of basic maths and English
  • Basic IT skills
  • Willing to work nights, weekends and overtime as required
  • Have good hearing
  • Happy working alone and as part of a team
Qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence
Health And Safety

This role may involve:

  • Moving heavy items including inspection chamber covers
  • Working in all weather conditions (this could include night work also)
  • You may be required to work in confined spaces and on highways
  • Mandatory drugs and alcohol tests are undertaken for this role and a DBS check will be undertaken
