Band 7 Team Lead Occupational Therapist in Acute Medicine

Full‑time, permanent post; part‑time will also be considered.

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Lead Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Medical team at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Our team provides input to the emergency department, acute medical receiving unit and the medical wards of this busy acute teaching hospital. We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Occupational Therapist to join our team.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Excellent communication, time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly across areas within the acute medical remit.
  • A high standard of Occupational Therapy assessment, problem solving and intervention skills.
  • A strong multi‑disciplinary work ethic.
  • Clinical experience working as an acute or rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience of providing clinical and non‑clinical supervision.
  • Experience and commitment to service provision review/audit.

Team Composition

The Acute Medical team is currently staffed with 1 x B7 Advanced Practice OT, 10 x B6 OTs and 2 x B5 OTs. This team works collaboratively with our Physiotherapy colleagues and the wider MDT to provide timely and patient‑focused care with the home‑first principle.

Working Schedule

There will be a commitment to weekend working in the Occupational Therapist team at RIE as part of the 5 over 7 day working pattern.

Remuneration

Please note: if appointed ett part‑time, the salary would be pro‑rata. As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
