Job description
Overview

apetito has been on an exciting journey to embed data at the heart of strategy and the data analytics team is leading the journey.

We have successfully built robust data infrastructure for our UK and North American markets, primarily on Azure cloud platform, which now serves as the foundation for our data-driven decision making.

We continue to enhance and evolve our data capabilities, leveraging modern cloud technologies to unlock the full potential of apetito's rich data assets and identifying new opportunities to deliver superior customer satisfaction and to grow the business.

You be a part of the Data and Analytics team, a fantastic, closely knit team that is working on strategic data infrastructure and data governance projects across our businesses in UK, Ireland, and North American across B2C and B2B businesses.

As a core member of the data analytics team you would work on building robust data pipelines, maintaining data quality standards, and implementing data governance frameworks that enable effective decision making within the organisation. You will also participate in the exploration into the rich data assets apetito has in each market to ensure data reliability, accessibility, and compliance across all business operations.

The role offers you an opportunity to have direct responsibility, from day one, to lead data engineering and governance projects that form the foundation for the business's data strategy. You will work on diverse data platforms across geographies (we support UK, Ireland, and North America) and across B2C and B2B businesses.

You will learn and work on exciting technologies and tools like SQL, Python, Azure Cloud, DataBricks, Azure Data Factory, Apache Spark, Microsoft Purview, PowerBI, and master data management platforms to name a few. You will also hone your skills by applying them to real-life situations, learn, test, and apply emergent technologies and tools and work in a fantastic, closely knit team that is bringing data-centricity to apetito.

Who we are

apetito is the UK’s leading food supplier to the health and social care sectors serving more than 1,300 care homes, health care and education settings.

This role is part of our 2 year graduate programme , during which you will have exposure to mentoring, leadership training and support to achieve your full potential.

You will present to the executive team on your work.

The aim of our programme is to train and develop graduates into future leadership roles.

Responsibilities
  • Designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to ensure reliable data flows from various source systems to data warehouses and analytics platforms, supporting data quality and accessibility for business stakeholders.
  • Work with Data Analytics, IT, Operations, Data Protection Officer and Business Intelligence colleagues, providing technical consultancy on data architecture and championing best practices in data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
  • Work with large datasets both internal and external - developing data models, implementing data quality checks, and establishing data lineage documentation. This would involve developing a wide toolkit, including SQL, Python, Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, Spark, and data governance frameworks, and you would be expected to quickly learn and apply the latest tools that become available.
  • Build your understanding of our data systems, data governance policies, regulatory requirements (such as GDPR), and to build strong relationships with the stakeholders across the business to understand their data needs and ensure compliance.
