Overview
Join us as an Application Engineer in Medium Voltage and become a driving force in a rapidly growing business focused on Data Centre and Utilities. Your expertise will help shape the future, and you’ll be part of our exciting growth journey!
Responsibilities
- Provide design assistance, value engineering, and product and segment (Datacenter, Utilities, Renewables, Oil & Gas, Industries) specific application support to the Eaton MVPD (Medium Voltage Power Distribution), Projects, Orders and Quotation (POQ) department, Sales Country Organizations (SCO), Key Account Managers (KAMs), EPCs, Consulting engineers and Channel partners for electro-technical installations, to enhance the value generated for customers.
- Provide necessary safety precautions and calculations during FEED, quotation and pre-order stages in accordance with company guidelines and procedures, aiming for an acceptable solution for all parties involved in complex technical issues. The Application Engineer can act as lead engineer for larger and more complex projects.
- Understand the overall Data Center value chain and translate requirements into solutions based on Eaton MVPD product portfolio (switchgear, Transformer, Modular). Focus designs on these products and collaborate across business units to stay in line with complete DC solutions.
- Determine, instruct and drive the technical quality and content of the quotation process. Read, interpret and agree on customer specifications to create a competitive Eaton solution including mechanical, electrical, safety and control systems, SCADA and PLC software applications.
- Understand MV switchgear and Transformer design requirements (codes, application guides & regulations) such as IEC 62271-1, EU Ecodesign, IEC 60076, EN 50588, and support tendering with varying customer requirements (rating, system description, internal arc protection, core & coil characteristics, temperature protection, vibration insulation).
- Work with teams to establish relationships with lead electrical consulting engineers, end users and design-build contractors to promote Eaton products (focus on switchgear and transformers with busway) in their specifications and projects.
- Develop pipeline through demand creation at influencers, engaging on early designs in strategic DC accounts and framework agreements.
- Participate in and understand current market requirements from customers to drive product technical features, contribute to future New Product Development (involve in Gate 0) and evaluate risks in the segments.
- Lead technical evaluation, feasibility, clarification and execution of multiple projects in parallel while meeting requested return dates of the quotation engineer/project engineer.
- Analyze electrical and/or mechanical faults by performing calculations and advise customers about possible technical solutions for complete systems (company own or competitive) in close cooperation with sales management to solve customer problems without harming the company’s image or financial position.
- Advise on 3rd party or special equipment materials (material cost and labour/engineering efforts) to provide technically competitive solutions to quotation engineers.
- Write technical RFQs for non-Eaton items that are part of a project and drive SCM for technically compliant bids.
