Depending on your placement area, you could work behind the scenes on exciting productions—from gripping dramas to live radio—and gain a recognised qualification while learning on the job.

The BBC Audio production teams deliver more than 100 hours of original audio daily across Radio 1, 1Xtra, The Asian Network, Radio 2, 6Music, Radio 3, Radio 4, and the World Service, plus content for BBC Sounds. Our podcasts and radio programmes reach audiences worldwide. We collaborate with top names in music, entertainment, journalism and major festivals.

In Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast we create programmes such as Front Row, classical music, books and readings, and narrative podcasts.

You’ll learn both on and off the job. In addition to your placement at the BBC, you’ll attend regular meetings (in‑person or virtual) with our learning provider to work toward an industry‑recognised qualification (SCQF 7 in Creative Media).

We focus on potential rather than qualifications. We look for passion for producing world‑class content and operational excellence. If you bring enthusiastic audio production skills, a keenness to learn all aspects of programme making, and flexibility to work across a variety of speech and music radio, we encourage you to apply.

This scheme is aimed at non‑graduates. If you have a degree, consider other roles on the BBC careers site or apprenticeship schemes.

• Be 18 years old or over by the time the apprenticeship begins in September 2026
• Be legally eligible to work full‑time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship
• Not currently enrolled in another apprenticeship programme
• No prior learning is required to apply

For candidates under 19 at 8th September 2026: to complete the apprenticeship, you must have achieved Core Skills (Scotland) at SCQF Level 5 or 6 in Communication and Numeracy. Core skills will be embedded into learning.

This is a fixed‑term apprenticeship; your contract lasts for the duration of the scheme.
