A local government authority in the UK is seeking two enthusiastic Recycling & Waste Engagement Officers. This full-time role requires engaging with residents to improve recycling habits and support the rollout of new food waste services. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, enjoy outdoor work, and have a commitment to environmental improvement. Experience in customer service or community engagement is helpful, but training will be provided.
Help residents recycle more, waste less, and support the rollout of new Food Waste Services for all Sefton Residents
We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated Recycling & Waste Engagement Officers to join our Waste Management and Street Cleansing Team.
These new roles will play a vital part in helping residents improve their recycling habits, prepare for the upcoming 2026 Food Waste Collection service, and support the Council’s wider environmental commitments.

About the Role
As a Recycling & Waste Engagement Officer, you will:
Engage directly with residents
Support behaviour change across the borough
Prepare residents for new services
Carry out practical fieldwork
Deliver education and outreach
You will be someone who
Experience in customer service, community engagement, education, waste management, or environmental services is helpful but not essential — full training will be provided.
