Join a leading Facilities Management Service Provider – we are looking for a skilled and reliable Post Room Operative to handle post duties across a single site in Birmingham.
The Post Room Operative is responsible for the efficient handling, sorting, and distribution of all incoming and outgoing mail and parcels. This role ensures that post is processed accurately, promptly, and securely to support smooth day‑to‑day operations within the organisation.
- Receive, sort, and distribute all incoming and outgoing mail and parcels.
- Process tracked items, maintain basic delivery logs, and operate franking or postal equipment.
- Liaise with staff and couriers to resolve delivery queries and ensure timely dispatch.
- Keep the post room organised, stocked, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to handle high volumes of mail accurately.
- Good communication and customer‑service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills, including use of email and postal/courier software (desirable).
- Physically able to lift and move parcels in line with manual handling guidelines.
- Previous experience in a post room, facilities, or administrative role (preferred but not essential).
- Knowledge of postal systems, courier services, or franking equipment is beneficial.
- Must comply with security and confidentiality requirements related to mail handling.
- Competitive salary: up to £12.50 per hour.
