This post is an important part of our ongoing development of medical services at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, offering the successful applicant the opportunity to work closely with the existing Dermatologists to provide a high standard of care across the Trust. We are seeking consultants with enthusiasm, commitment, and drive to work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation and within the community to help lead the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Dermatology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will join a service that prides itself on effective leadership, innovative thinking, and excellent teamwork. We strive to challenge our existing working practices and to constantly improve our service to deliver best practice guidance and to ensure that our patient outcomes are successful and that they feel valued by visits here at the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work closely with our existing Dermatology team. The appointee will conduct out-patients clinics and procedures and inpatient care. Dermatology ward referral time has been built into the timetable to allow the appointee to support Dermatology ward reviews. The post holder will supervise and support our Dermatology nurses, associate specialists and specialty doctors all of whom are based at Hertford County Hospital but provide cover across the Trust sites. In addition to supporting the existing service the appointee is encouraged to propose ideas for service improvement and development.

Qualifications / Training
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
  • College membership (MRCP) or qualification of an equivalent level
  • College Fellowship
  • Postgraduate academic degree
Previous Experience
  • Broad range of experience in Dermatology, in particular experience in management of cutaneous cancer with surgical skills and experience of biological treatments
  • Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
  • Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
  • Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
Skills
  • Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
  • Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation
