Overview

Job Title: Domestic Supervisor

Location: North Devon District Hospital

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week

Pay: £12.75 per hour

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Domestic Supervisor to lead and manage a team of domestic cleaners, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role is vital in maintaining high standards of hygiene and minimising the risk of healthcare-associated infections.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of domestic cleaners.
• Ensure compliance with National Specifications for Cleanliness.
• Manage rosters, allocate resources, and monitor performance.
• Control the use of cleaning materials and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with ward managers, matrons, and service users.
• Monitor cleanliness standards and take remedial action when necessary.
• Support training and development of team members.
• Ensure adherence to health & safety and infection control policies.

What We’re Looking For

• Essential:
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a cleaning team.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and professionally in a healthcare setting

• Desirable:
  • Experience in healthcare environments.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Food hygiene and health & safety qualifications.
