IT Systems & Improvement Specialist
Location: Carrickfergus (On-site)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity

We are working with an established Northern Ireland-based organisation to recruit an IT Systems & Improvement Specialist for a newly created role.
This is the company's first in-house IT position, offering a unique opportunity for someone with a few years' experience to take ownership of day-to-day IT support while helping modernise systems, improve processes, and drive efficiency across the business.
The role will suit someone who enjoys being hands-on but also wants exposure to projects, automation, and AI-driven improvements, with clear scope to grow alongside the business.

The Role

As IT Systems & Improvement Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing day-to-day end-user IT support (hardware, software, and systems)
  • Acting as the primary internal IT contact, liaising with third-party suppliers and service providers
  • Identifying inefficiencies and implementing practical IT solutions to improve workflows
  • Supporting and developing the organisation's use of AI across areas such as reporting, tenders, marketing, and documentation
  • Managing and maintaining databases, ensuring security, availability, and data integrity
  • Supporting system integrations, including job costing and stock control platforms
  • Delivering training and support to users on new systems and technologies
  • Maintaining IT asset registers and managing the hardware/software lifecycle
  • Supporting compliance with ISO and best-practice standards
  • Providing occasional IT support to a sister company, as required
The Ideal Candidate

You will likely have:

  • Experience in a hands-on IT support / IT projects / IT systems roleStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
  • Good stakeholder communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
  • An interest in process improvement, automation, and AI adoption
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy on-site environment
  • A full UK driving licence and access to transport

A third-level ICT qualification (Degree / HNC / HND or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
