Location: London, England, United Kingdom.

Are you an enthusiastic and committed individual looking to join a creative and international team that is about to write and film content to help preserve the cultural and artistic heritage of the Syrian diaspora?

What difference will you make?

You will join our editorial department made up of an international team of young translators, picture editors, and proofreaders. We work on the research, production and dissemination of content related to the cultural and artistic heritage of communities impacted by displacement, climate, and at risk of being digitally excluded. Our team requires an enthusiastic writer and content editor to contribute to the expansion of our program and activities in 2025.

Qualifications
  • Self-starter with a strong drive for engaging with young people and people from other cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to tell great, compelling stories on broader topics.
  • Strong writing voice and a developed perspective on arts and culture.
  • Willingness to use a critical perspective to offer analysis and critique of arts and culture.
  • Strong sense of curiosity about the world and a deep desire to explore it, always looking for stories whenever they go out.
  • Experience writing about the arts and culture is required.
  • Developed deep sources within the arts/music community of the Syrian diaspora.
Responsibilities
  • Engage remotely with young people who are starting to write stories based on their experience of displacement to encourage them in the writing of their narratives.
  • Mentor some of the young writers to develop their voice and produce their stories that we will publish on our bilingual website.
  • Write short interviews with artists and other creative professionals living across the UK, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
  • Help in drafting scripts and questionnaires that will be used by our media team in the production of digital content that will be published on our YouTube channel and other social media.
  • Review events such as webinars and forums about topics connected with cultural heritage, films, books and music that will be published in our News/Events section.
