Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SENCO to lead and coordinate our provision, following the promotion of our current SENCO. You will play a key role in ensuring that every child receives the support they need to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the strategic and operational provision for pupils with SEND.

This is an exciting opportunity foran experienced SENCO or an excellent classroom teacher aspiring to take the next step in their career.

You will
  • Lead and manage the school’s SEND provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Be a DSL at school.
  • Identify and assess pupils with additional needs and coordinate appropriate interventions.
  • Work closely with class teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure inclusive, high-quality teaching.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and the local authority.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date SEND records, including EHCPs and provision maps.
  • Provide professional guidance, training, and support to colleagues.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of SEND provision across the school.
  • Hold (or be willing to work towards gaining) the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or NPQ for SEN.
  • Have a proven track record of improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.
  • Be a passionate, reflective practitioner with excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of inclusive education and the graduated approach.
  • Be able to build positive, trusting relationships with children, parents, and staff.
