A veterinary care provider is seeking an ambulatory equine vet to join their team in the East Midlands, UK. The role involves providing high-quality care to a varied equine caseload, with opportunities for case management and professional development. The ideal candidate will be a qualified veterinarian with a passion for equine care. Here at Scarsdale Vets, we’re looking for an ambulatory equine vet to join us on a permanent basis. This post is a is primarily an ambulatory position, with the opportunity to work cases up in our clinic. We have hospitalisation and operating facilities available in the Clinic with the usual range of equipment, enabling provision of an outstanding level of client and patient care, and deal with an extremely varied equine caseload. There is the opportunity to follow cases through with support from the team when required. We have friendly clients who are primarily sports and leisure horse owners, although we treat everything from miniature horses to shires, and everything in between. We’re keen to support candidates by offering full certificate support for those that have aspirations to study further.
Ideally, we’re looking for a full time vet to cover 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 08:30 – 17:30, along with our 1:5 weekends/OOHs rota. However, we’re keen to support part time applicants where possible.
Our Markeaton practice is set in the Allestree area of Derby and offers high level equine and farm veterinary care. The farm and equine teams are both based at the Markeaton practice, which creates a lively and fun work place. We have experienced and dedicated teams and access to excellent facilities. These include sixteen stables with boxes for isolation and critical care patients, foaling boxes, indoor and outdoor schools, paddock turnout and an operating theatre. Our friendly team of seven equine vets have varying experience, from recent graduates to certificate holders, with different individual interests including but not limited to lameness, medicine, dentistry and reproduction. There are regular case discussions, and individual development is supported and encouraged. We also have assistance from visiting specialists. The equine veterinary team is supported by excellent equine nursing and reception teams.
