Full Description

Step Together Volunteering joined the Thrive Together partnership to help veterans find support available to them. Funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.

We are proud to be part of the Thrive Together partnership in the North West, working through a team of volunteers with lived experience of the Armed Forces whether they may have served themselves or have family members who may have served in the military, to help reach out to other veterans who may be facing difficult circumstances to let them know of the support available to them.

Volunteers will also work with organisations that engage with or provide support to veterans, to help raise awareness of the barriers that veterans may face when accessing support and work to reduce the stigma associated with seeking help.

Our volunteers may support with things such as:

  • Identifying veterans in the community that would benefit from support or activities, including those that are ‘hidden’ within the local area.
  • Promoting inclusion at all times and reach veterans who would otherwise avoid taking part in activities or receive support.
  • Being innovative and creative to increase the range of veterans receiving support.
  • Networking with other community networks and the wider Thrive Together programme.
  • Working together with other volunteers to achieve similar aims and outcomes.

If you have lived experience of the Armed Forces and would like to get involved, you can apply using the link below, or if you'd like to have a friendly chat about the role, please email Sally, our Volunteer Coordinator at sally.houlihan@step-together.org.uk.
