Job description
Transport Planner / Senior Transport Planner - Bristol

We are seeking a full‑time Transport Planner or Senior Transport Planner for the Transport South team based in Bristol.

Tetra Tech is a leading consultancy with a strong presence in London and the south of England. You will join a growing and established team delivering a wide variety of interesting projects for clients in the private and public sectors.

Responsibilities

Our clients typically include housing and commercial developers, local authorities, highway authorities, architects, town‑planners and other professionals. Your work will involve development‑related transport planning, including preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, transport chapters for environmental impact assessments, and other development‑related transport reports. You will also prepare transport studies for our public sector clients, undertake site visits, and attend meetings as required. Some client liaison, including attendance at meetings, will also be part of the role. Full support will be provided by an experienced transport planning professional.

Requirements
  • Experience in the preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and other transport‑related documents required in support of planning applications
  • Experience of analysing, collating and interpreting data
  • Knowledge of highway design principles relevant to site access design
  • Ability to use AutoCAD and GIS software
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience of software packages such as TRICS, Junction 10 and LinSIG
  • Understanding of the UK planning process and how your work fits into that
  • Drive to succeed and a willingness to get involved
  • Excellent communication skills, confidence to liaise with clients and team members
  • Methodical approach to problem solving and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to produce clear, precise and coherent analysis, reports and drawings
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a skilled multi‑disciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications

Degree or Masters in a relevant subject (e.g. transport planning, civil engineering, geography).

  • Membership of a professional body such as ICE or CIHT
