Job description

Due to continued growth and investment, we are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Transport/Logistics Supervisor to join our Transport Team at our Newburn, Newcastle site. This is a full-time, permanent position focused on the operational management of our HGV-driven team.

You will report to the Transport Manager and be responsible for controlling the daily planning schedule for our fleet of HGVs, supporting both internal and external customer requirements. The role requires a strong on-the-ground presence, working closely with the driver team both face‑to‑face and remotely, as well as collaborating with production and plant planning teams to maximise fleet productivity.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational management of the HGV driver team
  • Daily planning and scheduling of HGV fleet to meet business and customer needs
  • Creating effective and efficient work plans
  • Managing and supporting drivers to ensure compliance and delivery of daily outputs
  • Monitoring KPIs and progress throughout the day to achieve business targets
  • Maintaining a strong presence with the team, both in-person and remotely
  • Collaborating with production and plant planning teams
  • Some travel may be required as part of the role
The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience in a transport planning role (essential)
  • Demonstrated success in driver management
  • Experience in a construction or aggregate supply operation (advantageous)
  • HGV driving licence (useful but not essential)
  • Transport Manager CPC qualification (preferred but not essential)
  • Relevant qualifications for the position
