A leading UK insurance company is seeking a Technical Pricing Manager to lead the pricing strategy for home and pet insurance. This role involves developing and executing pricing models aligned with commercial goals, while ensuring compliance with regulations. You will work collaboratively across departments to support customer acquisition and retention efforts, making an impactful commercial contribution.
We're seeking a Technical Pricing Manager to lead pricing strategy, execution, and governance across our home and pet insurance portfolio. This is a highly analytical and commercially impactful role, ideal for someone who can blend market insight with technical pricing expertise to drive growth and profitability.
Own and execute pricing strategies that align with commercial goals and risk appetite.
Apply data science, actuarial thinking, and competitive intelligence to solve complex pricing issues.
Build, refine, and maintain robust pricing models, tools, and frameworks tailored for home and pet insurance products.
Use compelling analysis to guide senior leaders on margin optimisation and commercial trade-offs.
Ensure pricing practices are compliant with internal policies and external regulatory standards.
Drive pricing initiatives from conception to delivery, managing cross-functional resources and stakeholder communications.
Partner with Finance, Marketing, Sales, and Product teams to ensure pricing supports customer acquisition and retention goals.
Oversee relationships with third‑party pricing solution providers, collaborating with procurement to manage contracts and performance.
Monitor, report, and respond to pricing performance KPIs and analytics.
Mentor and support pricing analysts and specialists, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Significant experience in a technical pricing or actuarial role within general insurance—ideally in personal lines, including home and/or pet.
Proven hands‑on expertise in developing end‑to‑end risk and pricing models, from data extraction to deployment and monitoring.
Deep understanding of statistical modelling (GLMs, GBM) and proficiency in tools such as Radar, Emblem, Python, R, and/or SQL.
Solid understanding of insurance underwriting, risk modelling, and profitability levers.
Proven ability to communicate complex pricing concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Track record of managing projects and leading cross‑functional collaboration.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, managing multiple modelling projects and deadlines effectively.
Good knowledge of pricing regulation and governance within UK insurance markets.
Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on coaching and team development.
Exposure to working with aggregators, broker‑led distribution, and digital acquisition channels.
A commercial mindset with the ability to balance risk and opportunity.
Experience integrating alternative datasets (e.g., geospatial) into pricing models.
Excellent storytelling skills—able to bring models to life in commercial and non‑technical terms.
