Job summary

A supported living organization in Strabane seeks dedicated staff to provide care and support for individuals with learning disabilities. The role demands qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and experience in a formal care/support role. You'll be instrumental in fostering independence among tenants, providing essential support services around the clock. Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months experience in a formal care/support role.
  • Must be currently registered with NISCC or achieve registration within 6 months.
  • Willing to work towards completion of a relevant qualification.

Responsibilities

Iona Houses is a supported living accommodation giving support and care for up to 12 tenants with mild to moderate learning disabilities. It is situated centrally within Strabane. Iona Houses provides 24-hour staff support services, 365 days a year supporting tenants to develop skills and get involved in day-to-day decision making.

Qualifications
  • QCF/NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a formal care/support role and previous experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities or mental health issues.
  • Alternatively, minimum 2 years experience in a formal care/support role and previous experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities or mental health issues.
  • Must be currently registered with NISCC or, if new to the sector, achieve registration within 6 months.
  • Must be willing to work towards the completion of a relevant qualification.

Formal Care / Support may include caring at home, where the carer is in receipt of Carers’ Allowance, or voluntary work in a formal setting.
