About The Role

We specialise in residential care, supporting people with autism and learning difficulties. We constantly strive to provide homes with a relaxed atmosphere that promotes individuality, giving each person the right to dignity, choice, privacy and independence.

Championing the integration of people into the community by using local facilities such as shops, cafes, libraries, public houses and leisure centres and drawing on public and private transport for outings or holidays.

Position
  • Job Title: Support Worker
  • Location: Durham
  • Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week
  • Shifts: Evenings, nights, weekends

Support workers provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower people to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone’s individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they want. Support is required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Role
  • Provide support to empower people to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting individuality and enabling appropriate choices in line with their support plans.
  • Promote the health, well‑being, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual beliefs of the people and ensure they are met inclusively.
  • Support nurses with the delivery of complex health support.
  • Facilitate social, educational or work activities such as visiting family and friends, supported employment, walks, shopping and other recreational activities of their choice.
  • Complete a range of records and documents.

About The Service

The Dispensary – Swanton Care is a stunning care home situated in a picturesque village close to Durham. We are a new service, recently opening in May 2023, offering adapted apartment‑style living to five people who require specialist care and support, living with complex needs including autism, learning disabilities and physical disabilities.
