Salary Range: £28,000 to £30,000 per annum + Company Pension

MV Fruehauf is a leading UK trailer engineering and manufacturing company, operating from a large facility in Grantham. The business has undergone significant investment and transformation in recent years, with expansion of product lines, modern fabrication machinery, upgraded facilities, and a growing workforce.

Purpose of the Role
The Incoming Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting and verifying that incoming raw materials, components and supplies meet established quality standards and specifications before releasing to production. This role ensures that nonconforming materials identified, documented and handled according to company procedures to maintain product quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform visual, dimensional and functional inspections of incoming materials,
  • parts and products according to drawings, specifications and standards.
  • Review supplier certificates of compliance, test reports and other relevant documentation.
  • Use precision measuring tools and equipment such as callipers, micrometres, gauges and other tools.
  • Document inspection results accurately in logs, databases or quality records.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming materials and communicate findings to relevant departments.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing and Engineering teams to resolve supplier quality issues.
  • Ensure that inspection tools and equipment are maintained and calibrated.
  • Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives related to supplier quality.
  • Follow safety protocols, quality policies and work instructions.

Required Skills & Experience

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or technical certification preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in quality inspection (preferably in manufacturing/automotive industry)
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other relevant quality management systems

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and specifications
  • Proficient with ERP system (Desirable)
  • Experience with basic measuring tools and inspection techniques
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office)

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication, able to liaise across functions, with internal teams and external suppliers and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Full-time, permanent contract
  • Working hours: 08:00 – 17:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 – 13:00 Friday
  • Onsite parking
