Position Overview
The Summer School EFL Teacher plays a central role in delivering a high standard of English language tuition while also contributing to the broader student experience through academic support, pastoral duties, and supervision. This role requires flexibility, enthusiasm, and a commitment to student welfare.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching (20 Hours Per Week)
- Plan and deliver engaging, student‑centred English lessons in line with the school syllabus and student needs.
- Adapt materials to meet different proficiency levels and learning styles.
- Incorporate communicative teaching methods that encourage participation, creativity, and confidence in English.
- Monitor student progress through regular assessment and provide feedback.
- Maintain accurate class registers, lesson plans, and records.
- Additional Duties (10 Hours Per Week)
- Provide academic assistance (e.g., supporting study sessions, homework clubs, placement testing).
- Participate in pastoral care, acting as a first point of contact for student welfare and wellbeing.
- Assist with supervision duties such as meal times, break times, student arrivals/departures, and excursions.
- Support the management team with student induction, testing, and end‑of‑course reports.
- Ensure safeguarding and welfare policies are followed at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
- A recognised ELT qualification (e.g., CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, DELTA, or equivalent).
- Educated to degree level (essential).
- Previous experience teaching EFL to young learners or teenagers (preferably in a summer school or residential setting).
- Experience supporting students outside the classroom (pastoral or supervisory duties) is desirable.

Working Conditions
30 hours per week: 20 hours teaching + 10 hours other duties. Some evening and weekend work may be required as part of the rota. Residential and non‑residential options may be available.
