Overview

We are currently seeking a qualified Software Test Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing test plans to verify that Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs) meet specified requirements. This role involves close collaboration with systems engineering, software development, and project teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and alignment with system verification plans.

Responsibilities
  • Support software development and verification planning activities.
  • Review and analyze software and interface requirement specifications.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts for manual and automated testing of CSCIs.
  • Ensure traceability of software tests to requirements and manage test coverage.
  • Execute manual and automated tests to verify compliance with software requirements.
  • Document and communication defects; collaborate with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure new code does not impact existing functionality.
  • Manage configuration of software test artifacts and support change control processes.
  • Participate in Software Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings.
  • Support integration and test environments including SIL/HIL planning, test architecture development, and automation implementation.
  • Track and report quality metrics including test coverage, defect rates, and technical performance measures.
  • Prepare and present test reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver contractual documentation (CDRLs, DIDs) as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in systems, Software, or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • M inimum 3 + years of relevant experience in software testing.
  • Proficiency in software testing methodologies including acceptance, code coverage, performance, and regression testing.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans, cases, and scripts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain automated test frameworks and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel (up to 10% within Canada) and maintain a valid passport.
  • Must meet anthropometric requirements for confined space access.
  • Preference for candidates with a P.Eng designation or eligibility.
  • Ideally, candidates will have experience with IBM Rational DOORS.
  • Preference for familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies using SysML/UML.
  • Experience with Enterprise Architect or CAMEO Systems Modeler is an asset.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in Agile development environments.
  • Ideally, candidates will have proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Preference for experience with DSpace Automation Desk, Control Desk, MATLAB, Simulink, and Python.
  • SIL/HIL design and commissioning experience is highly valued.
  • Ideally, candidates will have prior experience in mechatronics testing, software development, or requirements engineering.
