Job description

Stiller Warehousing & Distribution Ltd. has a vacancy for a Site Facilities Operator based out of our Head Office site at Ridgeway, Newton Aycliffe.

The ideal candidate should be willing to undertake a wide variety of tasks within the business and have a willingness to work both inside and outside across the sites in all weather conditions.

We are looking for someone who is a team player with a positive and “Can Do” attitude. This role requires someone who is observant and can think on their feet in the fast-paced environment of warehouses, workshops and office buildings across the various sites on which we operate.

Valid training in the use of Counterbalance Forklift Trucks would be preferred, however training/refresher training will be provided if it is a requirement for the role.

Candidate Requirements:

• Willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks to include working outside.
• Previous knowledge or aptitude for general maintenance repairs to site.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and problem solve.
• Being organised, a good team player and where required ability to work on own initiative.
• Full current driving licence.

Main Responsibilities & Duties Following Training:

• To undertake site facilities tasks in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
• To support the site facilities team with the daily/weekly/bi-weekly duties as outline by the Facilities Manager.
• Recycling of waste materials (i.e. cardboard, plastic, wood) from the various sites within the business and operating the baling machine.
• Use of ride-on sweeper to clean large areas of warehouse and yard spaces.
• To assist with the loading/unloading of customer-specific trailers and containers.
• To assist with the vehicle washing process and cleaning the inside of vehicle cabs for onsite customer.
• To assist with washroom/drain blockages.
• To undertake general facilities work – to include painting, installation of signage and notice boards, repair/erect fencing etc.
• To assist with racking repairs following training.
• To provide support as required to other departments – to include FLT work, driving of company van, handballing of goods from trailer and dealing with spillages.
• Weekly reading and recording of utility meters across various sites.
• Winter preparation of site: clearing of footpaths, walkways, gate access and operating of snow plough where required.

Additional Duties:

• Driving of company non-commercial vehicles when required.

The Company reserves the right to vary or amend the duties and responsibilities of the post holder at any time according to the needs of the business.

Terms of Employment:

• The hours of work will be 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday predominantly between the hours of 06.00 – 22.00hrs with a 40 minute paid break during an 8 hour shift. Shift allowances will be paid for back shift working.
• Candidates would be required to be flexible to work additional overtime hours where needed to meet customer requirements.
• The position will be based at Unit 10, Ridgeway, Aycliffe Business Park, Newton Aycliffe, DL5 6SP, however there will be a requirement to work from other sites within the business.
• Hourly rate of pay £12.66/hour – overtime paid after 40 hours worked. Shift allowances where applicable.
