Senior Quantity Surveyor – Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick – Motherwell

Based at our Maxim Park office in Motherwell, this role forms part of the Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team, where you will contribute to both infrastructure projects and the development of impressive career paths.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record of managing all costs and income within their area of responsibility. The ideal candidate will minimise project costs, enhance value for money, and meet the required standards of quality while maintaining their Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Preferably, you will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, CICES, or CIOB, or working toward such status. Experience leading a small commercial team and mentoring staff on their professional qualification journey is desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Request and systematically check information data.
  • Prepare activity and resource schedules and analyse tender documents.
  • Critically appraise, estimate and negotiate costs with third parties.
  • Review complex contract programmes such as Time‑Location and assist with preparation of delay and disruption programmes.
  • Monitor subcontract activities, measure, and respond appropriately.
  • Prepare internal reports, commercial progress, and financial reconciliation; report to senior project staff.
  • Understands the customer contract and manages stakeholders.
  • Analyse rates and prices, agree on variations or compensation events as required.
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate claims when required.
  • Manage commercial aspects with customers and stakeholders for assigned responsibilities.
  • Conduct constructability analyses using construction programmes.
  • Prepare procurement programme and aid strategy development.
  • Support recruitment, supervision, and development of team members.
  • Adhere to the company’s governance requirements and maximise LEAN/digital opportunities.
Essential Qualifications
  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge.
  • MRICS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working towards qualification.
  • CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person).
