About Them
With a recent £15m investment this growing company is a UK‑based direct‑to‑consumer nutrition business focused on healthy, natural meals tailored for dogs.
The role
They pride themselves on creating exceptional experiences for their customers. As part of their Digital Product Team, you will be responsible for testing their development output from both a functional and visual perspective.
This role places strong emphasis on the overall product experience, as well as the underlying functionality. You will ensure that everything is pixel‑perfect, works seamlessly across devices, and feels like a product they would be proud to put in front of their customers. The ideal candidate will have some experience or understanding of UX and/or UI design, with high standards for quality and usability.
A key part of this role will be helping to establish their journey into automated testing. As they continue to grow, it is vital that new products and features do not negatively impact existing services. They are aiming to build a best‑in‑class automated testing approach, and the successful candidate will play a leading role in shaping, guiding, and driving this forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Functional and non‑functional testing of all in‑house development, taking ownership of test approach, coverage, and risk assessment across features, platforms, and services.
- Cross‑platform and cross‑device user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring consistent, high‑quality experiences across browsers, devices, and operating systems, and identifying experience gaps before release.
- Logging, documenting, and tracking defects through to resolution, including prioritisation based on risk and impact, and working with teams to ensure issues are clearly understood and resolved effectively.
- Providing QA input during project discovery, planning, and refinement, helping shape requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical approaches with quality and testability in mind from the outset.
- Implementing and maintaining automated test suites, setting direction for what should be automated, ensuring tests provide meaningful coverage, and aligning automation with CI/CD and release processes.
- Improving overall product quality by working collaboratively with developers, sharing insights, patterns, and feedback to help teams prevent issues earlier and continuously improve delivery outcomes.
- Mentoring and supporting other QA team members, providing guidance, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback to help grow individual capability and overall QA maturity.
- Acting as a senior QA voice within the team, influencing decisions around quality, risk, and release readiness, and confidently challenging where standards are at risk.
- Collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Engineering, ensuring quality, usability, and customer experience are considered throughout the entire delivery lifecycle, not just at test time.
- Working with the Head of Digital Product to implement and continuously improve best‑practice Agile ways of working, supporting consistent, high‑quality delivery through effective ceremonies, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Proposing and driving new working methods, tools, and strategies, with a focus on improving both short‑ and long‑term system quality, stability, and team effectiveness.
About You
- Experience working in, and delivering within, an agile environment.
- Strong experience with test automation.
- Experience using test software (Cypress, Postman, SoapUI).
- Familiarity with GIT and Cloud Platforms.
- Passion for software testing, with a desire to grow further in the role, constantly learning and wanting to improve.
- Strong background and experience in improving overall software quality.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, handling multiple projects at the same time.
- Ownership mindset, taking accountability and responsibility for quality, and confidence to demo new features to key stakeholders.
