Qualifications

• Substantial experience in delivering EC&I systems in a complex or safety regulated sector.
• Strong knowledge of PLC/HMI systems like Siemens S7/TIA Portal, Rockwell studio 5000, Schneider Eco-structure.
• Proficient in producing electrical drawings using CAD tools like AutoCAD electrical and EPLAN.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full life cycle of EC&I system design from concept to commissioning.
• Define control system architectures and lead integration activities.
• Prepare detailed documentation including Electrical Schematics and Functional Design Specifications.
• Develop PLC/HMI software and interface logic.
• Coordinate with various engineering teams for cohesive design.
• Conduct design reviews for compliance.
• Support installation and commissioning including troubleshooting.
• Act as a mentor to junior engineers.
• Liaise with clients to clarify technical requirements.
• Support bids and proposals with technical insights.

Purpose of the role - The EC&I engineering role will lead the design, development and delivery of electrical, control & Instrumentation systems across reputable and technically demanding projects. Operating as a key technical specialist within the EC&I department, this role will ensure that system architectures are robust, compliant and aligned with both customer requirements and regulatory standards. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and clients to define specifications, resolve complex technical challenges, and delivery high integrity control systems that support safe, reliable and efficient operation of bespoke engineered solutions.

Key Responsibilities -

• Lead the full life cycle of EC&I system design, from concept and specification through to commissioning and handover.
• Define control system Architectures, specify equipment and lead hardware and software integration activities.
• Prepare and review detailed documentation including: Electrical Schematics, Functional Design Specifications, Cable schedules, I/O lists & Panel Layouts, Instrumentation data sheets and wiring diagrams.
• Develop PLC/HMI software and interface logic using platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell or Schneider.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural and safety engineering teams to ensure integrated and cohesive system design.
• Conduct and lead design reviews, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards and customer specifications
• Support installation and commissioning activities including troubleshooting, FAT & SAT.
• Act as a mentor to junior engineers, fostering technical growth and promoting knowledge sharing across the team.
• liaise directly with clients to clarify technical requirements, report progress and resolve emerging issues throughout the project life cycle
• Support bids and proposals with technical insight, concept designs and time estimated for EC&I scope.

Skills & Experience Required

• Substantial experience in delivering EC&I systems in a complex or safety regulated sector
• Strong knowledge of PLC/HMI systems such as Siemens S7/TIA Portal, Rockwell studio 5000, Schneider Eco-structure.
• Proficient in producing electrical drawings using CAD tools such as AutoCAD electrical and EPLAN
• Solid understanding of control system principles, instrumentation, motor control and Variable speed drives.
• Familiarity with applicable standards and regulations such as BS EN 60204, BS EN 7671 and low voltage directives.
