You’ll be a people person motivated by building long‑lasting relationships and improving outcomes for our clients and their teams and customers.

As a Senior Consultant You’ll Be
  • A passionate business analysis practitioner with significant experience beyond process modelling and requirements engineering, who then gets results in a pragmatic, impactful way.
  • Experienced in business analysis across small improvement initiatives, user‑centred product‑led delivery, and large‑scale transformation throughout an organisation.
  • A relationship builder who fosters long‑term client relationships, helping to position Herd’s brand as a trusted partner while embracing non‑consultancy vibes.
  • A team player who shares knowledge and expertise, enhancing the overall client experience.
  • A self‑motivated lifelong learner, continuously improving knowledge, toolkit, and craft.
  • A commercially aware individual who supports proposals that are viable for Herd and deliver value for money for clients.
  • An all‑rounder willing to tackle challenges, adapt to any industry or sector, and stay motivated to drive successful outcomes.
  • A people‑focused team member who creates a positive, inclusive working environment for all Herd staff and clients.
  • A compelling storyteller who influences stakeholders on the best way forward.
  • A flexible practitioner who adjusts approach and delivery to suit each customer and situation.
Key Elements of the Role
  • Accountable for all aspects of business analysis delivery within a project, product, or programme; escalating issues, proposing solutions, and ensuring outcomes.
  • Primarily a billable consulting role, working independently or as part of blended client teams.
  • Lead engagements with customers at all stages, working independently to make decisions and gain consensus.
  • Engage early on (e.g., discovery stage) or later in the delivery lifecycle as required.
  • Encouraged to engage in professional communities and share experiences internally and externally through blogs, podcasts, and speaking.
  • Contribute to case studies, articles, and promotional materials to showcase capabilities.
  • Support sales activities, including bids, tenders, pre‑sales work, and Statements of Work.
  • Future responsibility may include line‑managing mid‑level and junior BAs, supporting their growth and performance.
  • Assist hiring activities: CV screening, assessment development, interview panel participation, and recruitment recommendations.
  • Work within a small, growing scale‑up environment, embracing flexibility and initiative.
Core Skills and Characteristics
  • Drive tangible outcomes and get things done.
  • Collaborate with people at all levels, building rapport and influencing when necessary.
  • Synthesise complex information and communicate simply and effectively.
  • Own key deliverables and outcomes, showing accountability.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self‑starter who prioritises opportunities.
  • Persuasive to encourage task completion.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Quick to learn new concepts and tools.
  • Confident and approach matters with poise.
  • Comfortable working at pace and under pressure.
  • Present opinions clearly, defend approaches, and remain open to change.
  • Assess work independently and choose the best approach for high standards.
  • Deliver work visually appealing to stand out.
  • Challenge customers and colleagues constructively when better alternatives exist.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in Central Government, Local Authorities, Higher Education, or Charities.
  • First‑hand experience of the GOV.UK Service Standard.
  • Data analysis using Power BI, SQL, or Python.
