Overview
Secretaries for community-led environmental charity role at East London Waterworks Park. East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity developing a community-owned park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces.
Responsibilities
- Participate in community-led working groups (circles) and online gatherings.
- Help organise meetings, take minutes, and ensure actions are carried out by cross-disciplinary teams (architects, ecologists, community researchers, campaigners, web developers, illustrators, fundraisers, and communications professionals).
- Assist with organisational and planning tasks to support project cohesion and reaching group goals.
Qualifications
- Organisational & planning: excellent time management, ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, experience in planning and coordinating events (online and potentially in-person).
- Communication & interpersonal skills: strong written and verbal communication, ability to engage with a diverse range of people, active listening and rapport-building.
- Technical proficiency: proficiency with online tools (e.g., Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom) and basic experience with project management software.
- Attention to detail: meticulous in administrative tasks and accuracy.
- Proactive & independent: ability to work independently and identify/address potential issues.
- Commitment & reliability: consistent attendance at online gatherings and long-term commitment to the project.
Desirable Skills & Experiences
- Experience with volunteer management, taking and distributing meeting minutes, basic graphic or web design, and interest in environmental sustainability and community development.

Time Commitment
Circles meet every 2 or 4 weeks in the evenings online. Design, communications, and governance meet every 2 weeks; inclusivity, learning and fundraising meet every 4 weeks. Time outside of meetings is spent on agreed tasks remotely.
