Describe the volunteering opportunity.
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the 32nd Glasgow Scout Group in Kirkintilloch. Volunteers help support weekly meetings, plan and run exciting activities, assist with camps and outdoor adventures, and contribute to the smooth running of the group. Whether you have specific skills to share or just enjoy working with young people, you’ll be helping to make a real difference in your local community.
Good communication skills, reliability, and enthusiasm are key. Experience working with young people or organising activities is helpful but not essential. Creativity, teamwork, and a willingness to get involved and learn are the most valuable qualities. Full induction, training, and ongoing support are provided through the Scouts’ volunteer training programme.
The opportunity is based at the 32nd Glasgow Scout Hall, Kirkintilloch. Meetings are usually held weekly at the hall or nearby outdoor venues. The hall is easily accessible by local public transport, and there is parking available nearby. Travel expenses can be reimbursed in line with Scout Association policy.
Please note the induction and ongoing training and support for volunteers: New volunteers are welcomed through an induction process that introduces them to Scouting values, safety procedures, and their specific role within the group. This includes an introduction to the team, key contacts, and an overview of local and national Scouting resources. Ongoing training is provided through the Scouts’ adult training scheme, which helps volunteers develop skills in leadership, safeguarding, programme delivery, and outdoor activities. Learning is flexible and can be completed through online modules, face-to-face sessions, or practical experiences.
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity. Find out more.
