The Role

Coal Clough Academy wishes to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed Science Teacher to deliver AQA Combined Science and Entry Level qualifications to students at Key Stage 4 and all sciences at Key Stage 3.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a high‑quality learning experience for students that meets internal and external quality standards.
  • Use creative approaches within curriculum development and design.
  • Develop learning programmes within your specialist area.
  • Liaise with senior managers and others about pupils.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of key curriculum areas linked to the role.
  • Plan the science curriculum across key stages to ensure a well‑sequenced, knowledge‑rich curriculum that carefully engineers success.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Responsible for attainment and progress in science for all students, in line with agreed targets.
  • Support, develop and enhance the teaching practice of others so that lessons are judged no less than typically good.
  • Create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment conducive to children’s learning.
  • Plan and prepare lessons to deliver the National Curriculum and other accredited areas, ensuring effective breadth and balance.
  • Identify clear teaching objectives and learning outcomes with appropriate challenges and high expectations.
  • Teach lessons judged to be at least typically good.
  • Help maintain good order and discipline among students, safeguarding their health and safety.
  • Organise and manage groups or individual students, ensuring differentiation of learning needs and reflecting all abilities.
  • Plan opportunities to develop the social, moral, emotional and cultural aspects of students’ learning.
About Coal Clough Academy

Coal Clough Academy is an 11‑16 alternative provision for young people, many of whom have found it difficult to succeed in mainstream schools. At Key Stage 3 we support young people to return to mainstream schools, and at Key Stage 4 we focus on enabling students to gain five GCSEs to ensure a successful transition to college, training or employment. Pupils are taught in small groups, allowing core curriculum learning to be tailored to individual needs.
