Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Systems Engineer and the Head of Operations, you'll contribute to analysing, unravelling, and extracting data from a Sage X3 environment, ensuring it's clean, structured and ready for migration into NetSuite, as a key part of a major financial systems transformation project.

Please note this is a one-year fixed-term role, open to dedicated contractors, freelancers or full-time employees seeking a new project.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Analyse and document the current state of a highly customised Sage X3 implementation, focusing on finance modules, to reverse-engineer complex customisations and understand data flows.
• Develop and execute data extraction strategies for both standard and customised financial data from Sage X3 into SQL Server, ensuring its validation and readiness for NetSuite migration.
• Collaborate with the Finance, IT, and Systems teams to ensure technical solutions meet business needs by translating financial requirements into technical and data extraction specifications.
• Design and optimise SQL queries to interrogate databases and surface required financial datasets.
• Build, modify, and optimise Crystal Reports, focusing on improving accuracy, performance, and output reliability by reducing complexity.
• Contribute to data mapping documentation between Sage X3 and NetSuite.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, including extraction errors, Crystal Reports discrepancies, SQL query performance, and incorrect or incomplete data relationships.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for data anomalies, and participate in data reconciliation activities during test cycles and cutover.

Qualifications

• Over 4 years of hands‑on experience with Sage X3, including scripts, objects, processes, data dictionaries, and data import/export mechanisms.
• Proficiency in SQL Server, T‑SQL, and querying for data extraction and transformation.
• Experience designing, modifying, and troubleshooting Crystal Reports.
• Past or current involvement in at least one ERP migration or data transformation project.
• Knowledge of financial data structures and familiarity with accounting principles.
• You’re good at adapting strategies and plans to navigate unforeseen circumstances.
• When faced with a problem, you collaborate with the appropriate people to evaluate different options find practical solutions.
