£25,833 - £28,038 pro rata (based on an FTE salary of £29,874 - £32,423 per annum)

Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cardiff and Vale College for a term-time only Safeguarding Officer in the Safeguarding and Wellbeing department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the College's Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures across the college.
  • Encourage good practice by promoting and championing the safeguarding policy and procedures; acting as designated safeguarding officer.
  • Support the College's Safeguarding Strategy and Action Plan.
  • Respond appropriately to disclosures or concerns which relate to the well‑being of learners in care or recently leaving care, maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Attend meetings with external organisations as needed (including core group meetings, Child Protection conferences, Care & Support meetings etc.).
  • Maintain accurate, confidential and up‑to‑date documentation on all cases and report where required, and manage safeguarding concerns on My Concern.
Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant must hold an appropriate qualification at level 2 or above and have received designated Operational Safeguarding Training. A well‑developed awareness and understanding of post‑16 issues, supported by experience, is also essential for this role.
