Job summary

A local government agency in Dundee is looking for a Retrofit Coordinator to lead architectural projects and enhance energy efficiency. The successful candidate will have relevant educational qualifications and experience in construction. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with standards, overseeing projects, and providing architectural services to various departments. This is a hybrid position working from home and on-site in Dundee, allowing you to contribute significantly through sustainable development initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a role such as Architect, Architectural Technician, or Building Surveyor.
  • Sound knowledge of energy-efficient building design and construction techniques.
  • Familiarity with contract law and conditions.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM.
  • Ability to run and guide architectural projects from inception to completion.
  • Ability to undertake site visits and surveys.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects to meet the domestic standard PAS‑2035.
  • Provide a complete range of architectural services.
  • Represent the Architectural Services Manager on projects.
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards and the CDM Regulations.

Skills

Experience in a construction professional role
Knowledge of energy efficient building design
Effective time management skills
Good negotiating skills
Ability to work collaboratively

Education

HNC in Building, Architectural Technology, or equivalent
Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management
Professional membership at Technician grade of an appropriate body

  • The role will cover a blended workload of Retrofit Coordinator, Retrofit Designer and Architectural projects.
  • Working a hybrid 37 hour week, you would be based at home and in Dundee House.

Requirements
  • HNC in Building, Architectural Technology, or equivalent.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management.
  • Professional membership at Technician grade of an appropriate professional body.
  • Level 3 Award in Energy Efficiency for Older and Traditional Buildings (or be willing to work towards).
Responsibilities
  • Lead projects to meet the domestic standard PAS‑2035.
  • Provide a complete range of architectural services to the council and its service departments as well as external public agencies.
  • Represent the Architectural Services Manager on construction projects and maintenance projects.
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards and the CDM Regulations as appropriate.
The Individual
  • Experience in a construction professional role such as Architect/Architectural Technician/Building Surveyor.
  • Sound and extensive knowledge of energy efficient building design, construction techniques and detailing.
  • Familiarity with contract law and contract conditions.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM.
  • The ability to run and guide architectural projects from inception to completion.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 is essential.
  • Effective time management skills to achieve project objectives.
  • Good negotiating skills at all levels.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with other professional disciplines and deal directly with clients.
  • The ability to undertake site visits and surveys, including working at height, confined spaces etc.
