Overview

To be part of the UK Sales team responsible for generating sales within a defined geographic sales region through promoting the full range of pumps and associated equipment plus peripheral services.

Department: Sales / Marketing

Location: UK - Ipswich

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate rental, sales and installation income for Company plant and machinery and develop strong sustainable relationships with clients in the sales region.
  • Prospect for new customers amongst national water suppliers, construction companies, mineral extraction companies, oil and gas companies, and manufacturing companies to meet revenue targets for the territory.
  • Work with customers to understand their requirements and deliver best in class solutions; draft proposals, negotiate and close contracts with new and existing customers.
  • Identify relevant lapsed accounts and potential additional accounts and implement strategies to engage business contacts to enhance business potential; liaise with other members of the sales team and technical experts to support sales work and ensure technical specifications are accurate.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their business and how turnkey solutions fit their needs to manage and interpret customer requirements.
  • Consult with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs so that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery.
  • Assess, on an ongoing basis, the quality of delivery of solutions to address short- and long-term customer needs.
  • Attend monthly group sales meetings to share information/data across the group to enhance sales prospects.
  • Maintain all sales documentation on a daily basis for accurate reporting to the Finance team; undertake administrative duties within the sales team as required; liaise with the financial controller regarding any sales matters or general enquiries.
  • Other duties as required to support the UK Sales team and the wider UK Group.
Qualifications
  • Experience: At least 2 years' previous face-to-face sales experience is preferred, ideally in the sales or rental business for plant hire equipment, rotating equipment industry or similar industrial environment. Demonstrable track record in profitable business generation with good financial acumen; budget awareness; experience negotiating with suppliers and working closely with customers to achieve optimal sales agreements and reach financial targets. Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Education: Hold a degree or equivalent in engineering, business, materials management or languages.
  • Personal attributes: Smart appearance; confident communicator; honest; able to plan and organise daily/weekly calls without daily supervision; ability to plan and manage workload; drive and self-motivation; willingness to assist with installation work if required; good geographical knowledge of the area; hold a full current driving licence.
